
Mavericks Sign Derik Johnson

INDEPENDENCE, MO (April 3, 2015)- The Missouri Mavericks announced Friday afternoon that they have activated defenseman Derik Johnson ahead of their back-to-back weekend series on the road against the Tulsa Oilers.
"Derik is a hard-working and strong skater, who is going to bring stability to our blue line," said Richard Matvichuk, Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations for the Missouri Mavericks.
Johnson is the son of NHL veteran defenseman Jim Johnson, now an assistant coach for the San Jose Sharks (NHL). The twenty-five year old Bloomington, MN native spent the last four years at U. of Minnesota-Duluth and will play in his first professional game for the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night wearing number 42.
The Missouri Mavericks play their next two games on the road in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday, Apr. 3 and Saturday, Apr. 4 at the BOK Center against the Tulsa Oilers before returning to Independence Events Center on Tuesday, Apr. 7 for their final home game of the 2014-15 season in a matchup with the visiting Brampton Beast.
