Esks' Scott Gordon Retires From CFL

(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo defensive back Scott Gordon has retired, the club announced today.
Signed as a free agent with Edmonton in February 2009, Gordon spent six seasons with Saskatchewan (2002 - â05, 2007-â08) ), and one with Hamilton (2006). In 2009, the Ottawa native posted 13 defensive tackles, three pass knockdowns and two interceptions over seven games (seven starts). He was placed on the nine game injured list after sustaining an injury in the first game of the season. He returned to the lineup on October 2, 2009.
Looking back on his career, Gordon says "I treasured each season I played in the CFL, and am grateful for having played in âRider Nation where I was coached by Richie Hall, who I consider to be the best defensive mind in the game. I can't think of a better way to finish off my career than playing for Coach Hall in Edmonton. I'm thankful to all my teammates, coaches and the support staff who I worked with over the years".
Eskimo General Manager and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says "From the way he prepared and competed to the way he conducted himself off the field, Scott was a consummate professional and a real pleasure to work with".
Gordon, who was a member of the âRiders 2007 Grey Cup winning team, played a key role in the University of Ottawa's Vanier Cup winning team in 2000. Gordon, wife Heather and daughter Grace reside in Ottawa where he has started his plumbing apprenticeship. He also works at several Ottawa area football camps run by former CFL'er Pat Woodcock.
