
Sergeant Slaughter To Make Special Guest Appearance

(Bowie, MD) - TEN-HUT! The Bowie Baysox, Class "AA" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, will be welcoming World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee and Wrestling Legend Sergeant Slaughter at Army Night on Thursday, June 14th, when the Baysox take on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 pm, sponsored by the U.S. Army.
Slaughter will be making a special guest appearance and signing free autographs and taking pictures with fans throughout the game. Thursday, June 14th, also marks the U.S. Army's 231st birthday.
Slaughter, a.k.a. "Sarge" is known world wide, for his days spent in the squared circle, as well as being the model for the legendary, G.I. Joe action figure. Slaughter enjoyed success in the National Wrestling Alliance, American Wrestling Association, and World Wrestling Federation. Sgt. Slaughter was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 13, 2004. Slaughter held the World Heavyweight Title, just one time throughout his storied career.
Sgt. Slaughter was also part of the G.I. Joe cartoon and comic book, as a member of the G.I. Joe team, and appeared in several of the series TV episodes. Along with the traditional merchandising of WWE superstars, Sgt. Slaughter also appeared in G.I. Joe: The Movie.
The Baysox will be distributing 5,000 free tickets to local soldiers throughout the Maryland and Washington D.C. area for Army Night.
The Baysox coaches and players will also be wearing Army themed camouflaged jerseys on Army Night as well as one other night this season. They will be auctioned off during the Baysox home game on Wednesday, July 4th. Tickets for Army Night featuring a special appearance by Sgt. Slaughter are available by calling the Baysox Ticket Office at 301-464-4865 or by logging on to www.baysox.com. Ticket prices range from $6.00 - $14.00
