(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Lexington Legends scored the tie-breaking run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, and Frank Schwindel followed with a double to drive home two more runs as the Legends took a 5-2 win over the Hagerstown Suns in front of 7,439 fans Saturday night.

The Legends scored a run in the first inning when Alfredo Escalera drew a leadoff walk, moved to third on two ground outs and scored on a single by Schwindel, who had three hits in the game.

The Suns evened the score in the fifth inning on walk to Greg Zebrack, a sacrifice bunt, an infield out and a single by Isaac Ballou.

Dominique Taylor led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a home run to put the Legends up 2-1, but the Suns tied it in the seventh. A leadoff hit by Rafael Bautista and a one-out single by Wilmer Difo put runners at first and third. Drew Ward grounded to Schwindel at first base, and Schwindel's throw to second was dropped by shortstop Ramon Torres, allowing Difo to reach second safely as Bautista scored the tying run. But Legends reliever Luis Santos escaped further trouble by getting Carlos Lopez on a fly ball to short right field and Craig Manuel on a grounder to third that resulted in a force play.

In the bottom of the eighth, Tyler Chism led off with a double. Taylor bunted foul on the third strike for the first out, but Escalera walked. After Torres grounded into a force play at second, Chad Johnson walked, loading the bases. Schwindel worked the count to 2-2, and then Suns reliever Robert Orlan threw a wild pitch, allowing Chism to score the tie-breaking run. Schwindel then lined a double off the glove of Ward, the third baseman, and Torres and Johnson scored to give the Legends their final margin.

Santos (4-1), who relieved starter Luke Farrell in the top of the seventh and finished the game, got the win. He allowed two hits and no runs in two and two-thirds innings. Orlan (0-1), who entered the game at the start of the sixth inning, took the loss. Hagerstown starter Hector Silvestre allowed one hit, Schwindel's first-inning single, in five innings of work. He had pitched five no-hit innings against the Legends on May 5 in Hagerstown.

The series continues Sunday. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
