Manitoba Moose News Release
True North Sports & Entertainment Limited, the Manitoba Moose, and MTS Centre are proud to announce the 5,000,000th fan in their almost five-year history attended Saturday's American Hockey League contest between the Moose and the Chicago Wolves. Sheila Hathaway was the 5,000,000th fan to pass through the doors of the MTS Centre prior to the game between the Manitoba Moose and Chicago Wolves on Saturday, October 10th.
Since opening, on November 16th, 2004, MTS Centre has acted as a major catalyst in the redevelopment of downtown Winnipeg and has consistently ranked among the busiest entertainment facilities in the world. Each and every year, MTS Centre hosts at least 140 events ranging from Manitoba Moose and international hockey, to some of the music industry's biggest name concerts, to many other world renowned shows such as Cirque du Soleil and Walking with Dinosaurs. PollStar Magazine, one of the entertainment industry's leading publications, has ranked the facility as high as third in Canada, behind only the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and the Bell Centre in Montreal, in terms of overall ticket sales for events. In fact, MTS Centre has never left the top 25 among North American entertainment facilities and has been in the top 100 around the world in each and every PollStar quarterly ranking since 2005. In fact, this past year, MTS Centre was named the Air Canada Centre Major Facility of the Year at the 2009 Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Awards. MTS Centre has hosted such events as Manitoba Moose American Hockey League action, the IIHF World Women's Hockey Championships, Team Canada's World Junior Team, an NBA exhibition game and NHL exhibition games, as well as professional bull-riding, Monster Jam, professional wrestling, and professional indoor soccer exhibitions, among others. MTS Centre can also accommodate up to 17,000 concert-goers and fans have been treated to everything from pop sensations Justin Timberlake and Bon Jovi, to country stars like Brad Paisley and Keith Urban, to operatic idols Il Divo, to rock legends Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young and Elton John.
Sheila Hathaway will now receive a $500 gift card to "Off The Rack", the official store of the Manitoba Moose, as well as a commemorative Manitoba Moose jersey to mark the occasion.
