Chicago Wolves News Release

Winnipeg, Manitoba---The Chicago Wolves held a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play but allowed two second period tallies en route to dropping a 2-1 decision to the Manitboa Moose at the MTS Centre Saturday night.

Left wing Brett Sterling opened scoring for Chicago (0-3-0-0) on the power play at 11:55 of the opening frame. Center Jason Krog's shot from the slot ricocheted off the back boards and the puck bounced to Sterling who was waiting outside the crease and slid the puck past Moose goaltender Daren Machesney.

Machesney (1-0-0) posted 30 saves in his season debut.

Manitoba (3-1-0-0) tied the score at one, 94 seconds into the middle frame when Manitoba center Mike Keane cleared the puck of the Moose zone and Wolves netminder Drew MacIntyre tried to play the puck in front of his crease but mishandled the puck and slid into the back of the net.

Left wing Michael Grabner notched the game-winner for the Moose on the power-play when he scooped up the loose puck at the side of the net and flicked a shot behind Macintyre and over the goal line at 11:13 of the second period.

MacIntyre (0-3-0) turned aside 35 of 37 shots in his third straight start for the Wolves.

The Wolves return to action against the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena on Wed., Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
