Montreal, Nov. 2, 2005 - The Canadian Football League announced today the 2005 Rogers Most Outstanding Player Awards for each team. Here are the Alouettes' nominees:
MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER: ANTHONY CALVILLO (5th nomination)
The 2003 CFL Most Outstanding Player and 2002 and 2004 East Division Most Outstanding Player, Anthony Calvillo, is the Alouettes' nominee for a fifth consecutive season. After an exceptional 6000 yards passing season in 2004, Calvillo is dominating the CFL again this year, passing for 5,556 yards and 34 touchdowns with just 19 interceptions. He set a new team record with 437 completions on 661 attempts.

MOST OUTSTANDING CANADIAN: BEN CAHOON (4th nomination)
The 2002 and 2003 CFL Most Outstanding Canadian, Ben Cahoon is the Alouettes' nominee for a fourth consecutive season. Despite missing four games with an elbow and wrist fracture, Cahoon became the first player in Alouettes' history with 1000 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons. He has caught 72 passes for 1062 yards and nine touchdowns in just 13 games.

MOST OUTSTANDING LINEMAN: SCOTT FLORY (2nd nomination)
The 2003 East Division Most Outstanding Lineman, Scott Flory stands an excellent chance of winning the CFL title this year. Montreal's offensive line provided for a remarkable CFL first: four receivers and a running back all over the 1000 yard mark in a season. Flory was CFL All-Star in 2002 and 2003, and an East Division All-Star in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

MOST OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE PLAYER: DUANE BUTLER (1st nomination)
Duane Butler earns a first career nomination after a season in which he has made many game-altering plays. He leads the league with six fumble recoveries for gains of 21 yards and a touchdown. He has also forced three fumbles - one fewer than the league leader. Butler leads the Alouettes with 65 tackles, has made two quarterback sacks and has picked off two passes.

MOST OUTSTANDING ROOKIE: MATTHIEU PROULX (1st nomination)
The pleasant surprise of the 2005 edition of the Alouettes has been without a doubt Matthieu Proulx. He has had an exceptional season, blocking two punts including one that led to a touchdown. Proulx leads the Alouettes with 12 special teams tackles and has played frequently on defence, making seven tackles. He is probably the Alouettes' most promising rising star.

MOST OUTSTANDING SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER: DAMON DUVAL (1st nomination)
The Alouettes' kicker is the top scorer of the CFL with a total of 182 points. He has showed impressive consistency in his first season, making 35 of 49 field goals. He gave the Alouettes a win against the Eskimos in the third game of the season, hitting a 48-yard field goal on the last play of the game. Duval also has also dominated on kickoffs, gaining 6,346 yards - almost 1,500 more than his closest rival.
