Renegades announce nominees for CFL player awards

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Renegades Football Club announced today its nominees for the 2005 Rogers CFL Player Awards.

Four different players were selected to represent the Renegades in the six major post-season award categories. Defensive back Korey Banks was selected as Ottawa's nominee for the Most Outstanding Player and also the unanimous selection as the top defensive player for the team. Veteran Val St. Germain earned the nomination for most outstanding Canadian and became the unanimous selection for top lineman. The rookie of the year candidate for national voting was defensive back Greg Moss, while outside linebacker Kyries Hebert was selected as the team's top special teams player.

"All of these guys are well deserving," said Renegades head coach and general manager Joe Paopao. "They've been productive guys and I'm pleased with who was nominated."

The aforementioned players were selected by the local branch of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC). The second round Rogers CFL Player Award voting results will be announced on Wednesday, November 9th along with the 2005 All-Star Team Nominees.

The Renegades return to action at home on Sat. Nov. 5 when they host the Toronto Argonauts at 3 p.m. in the final game of the regular season.
