Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA - The second edition of the 67's Dunder Mifflin Night was an instant classic, as it ended up being a 15-goal festival between the two sides who faced off in last year's OHL Finals, the Barber Poles and the Guelph Storm. 9-6 ended up being the final score, with goals coming from Joseph Garreffa (twice), Felix-Antoine Tourigny, Nikita Okhotyuk, Alec Belanger, Austen Keating, Mitch Hoelscher, Jack Quinn and Cam Tolnai. Will Cranley made 24 saves for his 9th win this season.

The game started off in a crazy way, with nine goals in the opening frame. Guelph took a 3-0 lead thanks to Cam Hillis, Josh Wainman and Eric Uba, before Joseph Garreffa made it a 3-1 game. Guelph's Jacob Roach would score twice before the end of the period, while Felix Tourigny, Joe Garreffa (again) and Nikita Okhotyuk replied for the hosts, making it 5-4 Guelph after one period of play.

There would be a lot less goal in the second period, which was limited to only two. Alex Belanger scored a beauty with a precise shot that beat the goaltender, before Austen Keating made it 6-5 Ottawa before heading into the third period.

After a rather calm second period, the game got crazy again in the third. Pavel Gogolev tied things up at six early in the third, before the 67's answered with three goals to close out the game. Mitch Hoelscher gave Ottawa the lead, Jack Quinn had the insurance marker thanks to a beautiful deke on a breakaway, while Cam Tolnai scored the game's last goal in an empty cage, making it a final of 9-6 Ottawa.

POST GAME COMMENTS

Head Coach André Tourigny

"Maybe it wasn't the game that we expected, but I think we showed a lot of resilience and a lot of character in that game. I like the way the guys regrouped and how we got better during the game. Lot of puck management where we came up short in our battles during the first, but what's important is the way we played after."
