1,000th Game Festivities Planned

Johnstown, PA- With the Johnstown Chiefs 1,000th ECHL game just days away, several activities are planned when the Chiefs take to the ice against the Toledo Storm this Saturday night.

The first 2,000 people through the gate will receive a FREE coffee mug courtesy of Sheetz. Galliker's Dairy, in conjunction with the Johnstown Chiefs Fan Club, will be handing out noisemakers (plastic milk jugs) to fans.

Prior to the game there will be a special ceremony commemorating 61 years of professional hockey in Johnstown. Former Johnstown Chiefs defenseman and all-time penalty minute leader Rick Boyd, will be dropping the ceremonial face-off. Boyd was the first Johnstown Chiefs player to earn an AHL/IHL contract during the 1988-89 season.

Following the game, there will be a "Skate With the Chiefs." All fans are invited to skate with the Chiefs players after the game. Fans are urged to bring their own skates to the game as rental skates will not be available. There is no cost for the post-game skate.

Due to construction in the downtown Johnstown area, the Chiefs urge fans to use the Lincoln Street parking garage, located just two blocks from the War Memorial. Cost to park in the garage is $2.

Tickets are still available as the Chiefs attempt to have their first sellout since 12/31/98. To order tickets by phone call (814) 536-5156 or 1-800-CHF-TIXX. The War Memorial box office is open 10:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Saturday the box office opens at 10:00 a.m.

The Chiefs are in Toledo tonight when they take on the Storm at 7:00 p.m. Friday night the Chiefs return to home ice when the Trenton Titans come to town (7:30 p.m.) Saturday night the Chiefs 1,000th ECHL game will be played when they host the Toledo at 7:30 p.m.
