Stampede Halt D-Fenders

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Stampede defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders, 110-101, on Thursday night at CenturyLink Arena.

The Stampede came out strong, holding the D-Fenders 28.6 percent from the field, and outscored Los Angeles 36-19 in the first quarter. Despite shooting 45.2 percent from the field in the second frame, the D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 29-12 to tie the game, 48-48, at the half. The Stampede took advantage of the break, gaining the lead with 10:27 left in the third frame. Idaho outscored Los Angeles 34-27 in the third quarter. Idaho maintained control in the final period to secure the victory.

"We came out of the gate strong, but hit a burst of turnovers in the second quarter," said Stampede Head Coach Dean Cooper. "At halftime we talked about sticking to the game plan and making corrections to our zone play. "

All five Idaho starters scored in double figures, led by Treveon Graham, who registered a game-high 34 points and five rebounds. Corey Hawkins recorded a career-high 23 points and six rebounds, while JJ O'Brien registered 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Phil Pressey registered 13 points, seven assists and a career-high six steals, while Utah Jazz assignee Tibor Pleiss added 12 points and nine rebounds. Da'Shonte Riley registered eight points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The Los Angeles D-Fenders were led by Jabari Brown (27 points) and Vander Blue (17 points).

Next up, Idaho will travel to Santa Cruz to take on the Warriors on Thursday, March 24 at 8 p.m. MT.
