Rivermen Sign Dion Knelsen; Assign to Alaska

PEORIA, Ill. (March 30, 2010) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today the club has signed center Dion Knelsen. The senior from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks will report to the Rivermen ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces.

Knelsen, 21, appeared in 39 games for the Nanooks this season and led the team in both points (43) and goals (19). His point total tied him for fifth in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and earned him CCHA All-Conference Honorable Mention. He registered at least one point in 27 games and recorded 10 multipoint games.

In four seasons at UAF, Knelsen accounted for 120 points (45g, 75a) in 148 games. A native of Three Hills, Alberta led his team in scoring in his final three seasons.
