Heat Fall To Moose 5-2

ABBOTSFORD B.C. - The Manitoba Moose scored three second-period goals and added two more in the third to their defeat North Division rival, the Abbotsford Heat 5-2 in American Hockey League at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre Monday.

Moose rookie Jordan Schroeder added a goal and an assist while Guillaume Desbiens picked up a goal and a helper as well in the victory.  Taylor Ellington, Mario Bliznak and Andrew Volpatti also scored for the Moose, while Andy Delmore would add a late goal in defeat for the HEAT.

Heat Captain Garth Murray said his team has to be better from start to finish in Tuesday's rematch against the Moose.

"We've got to bear down and find a way to do 60 minutes of work,' said Murray. "We need some more from some keys guys like myself, (David) Van der Gulik and (Colin) Stuart."

Earlier in the day the American Hockey League announced that Heat head coach Jim Playfair had been fined an undisclosed amount in regards to a second period outburst during a game against the Hamilton Bulldogs last Saturday.

The same two teams face off again Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
