Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves have signed center ERIC O'DELL to an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO).
O'DELL completed his third season with the Ontario Hockey League's Sudbury Wolves last Wednesday when they were swept, 4-games-to-0, by the Barrie Colts in the first round of the OHL's Eastern Conference Championship. He notched two assists in four postseason games.
The 19-year-old forward posted career highs with 35 assists and 68 points and matched a career-best 33 goals in 68 regular-season games this year. His 33 goals and 68 points led Sudbury, while his 35 assists ranked second on the squad.
O'DELL, who was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, was acquired by the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for forward Erik Christensen on March 4, 2009. Overall, he tallied 80 goals, 83 assists and 163 points in 159 career OHL outings with Sudbury from 2007 to 2010.
The Ottawa native also helped lead Canada to the Gold Medal at the 2008 Under-18 IIHF World Championships, recording four points (G, 3A).
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
O'DELL will join the Wolves on a three-game swing through Texas this week, beginning when they take on the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
