
Chiefs Reach Double Digits with 10-2 win

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs used two big innings to beat the Beloit Snappers 10-2 on Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Chiefs to 75-57 on the season with one game left in the series.
Trailing 2-0 the Chiefs sent nine batters to the plate in the fifth inning against Bryce Conley. Zach Kirtley singled and with one out Rayder Ascanio walked. Justin Toerner got the Chiefs on the board with a single to right and Nick Plummer walked to load the bases. Andres Luna singled to center to plate two runs and put the Chiefs on top 3-2. Wood Myers singled to right to bring home Plummer and put the Chiefs on top 4-2 before Conley got out of the inning.
As Zach Prendergast cruised through a quality start, the Chiefs added on in the seventh inning against reliever Jesus Zambrano. Myers doubled with one out and stole third. As Nolan Gorman struck out swinging, Myers scored on a wild pitch to put the Chiefs up 5-2.
Peoria put the game away with a five-spot in the eighth inning against Joe Camacho. Julio Rodriguez led off with a single and Ascanio put two on with a single. Toerner gave the Chiefs a 6-2 lead with his fourth single of the game before Plummer walked to load the bases. Luna delivered his second two-run single of the game for an 8-2 Chiefs lead before Beloit changed pitchers. Myers singled off Slater Lee to load the bases and Gorman's sacrifice fly to deep right put the Chiefs on top 9-2. Luken Baker accounted for the final run of the game with a sac fly of his own to center for a 10-2 lead as Luna scored.
Prendergast (7-3) picked up the win as he allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out six. CJ Saylor earned his third save of the season with three perfect innings and four strikeouts.
