Today's Game

This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the third game of a four-game set. Following their last series at Coca-Cola Field in the 2018 season, Buffalo will face their Thruway Cup rivals in their final road trip of the season. They first head to Rochester August 28-30, with a doubleheader on the 28th. Continuing down the 90 the team will play its season-ending series in Syracuse Labor Day weekend August 31 through September 3.

Last Game: BUF 5, PAW 8

The Herd jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first inning. However, a four-run sixth for Pawtucket helped the PawSox defeat the Bisons in the second game of the series. OF Jonathan Davis had two more hits, including a solo home run in defeat. RHP Mike Hauschild worked the first five innings for Buffalo, giving up four hits and three runs, all earned, in a no decision.

Pawtucket Red Sox (9-9)

The Bisons and Paw Sox are meeting for the final times this season. The last series played between the two teams came back on June 25-28 at Coca-Cola Field, when Buffalo took three of the four games. INF Tim Lopes is 12-39 (.308 AVG) in 12 games against the Red Sox this season.

Today's Starter: RHP Brandon Cumpton

RHP Brandon Cumpton is making his eighth start since first joining the Bisons in early July. The right hander earned back-to-back wins for the team, including in his first start. However, since re-joining the Herd from Toronto, Cumpton has two losses and two no decisions in four starts.

Jonathan Davis

OF Jonathan Davis set a modern era record with a base hit in eight straight at-bats. Davis singled in the first inning and homered in the second to set the record. He also reached base in nine straight plate appearances, one off of the record set by Matt Hague in 2015.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continued his home hit parade on Saturday with an RBI single in the first inning. Guerrero Jr. has 22 hits at Coca-Cola Field in 50 at-bats (.440AVG). Ten of his 11 RBIs have come in front of the home fans as well. The 19 year-old is 9-19 (.474AVG) on the homestand.

Darnell Sweeney

INF/OF Darnell Sweeney belted his third triple of the season in Saturday's loss. Sweeney was one of three Bison hitters to have a multi-hit performance, going 2-3 against the PawSox. He has nine hits, including two home runs, against Pawtucket in 12 games this season. Sweeney has five RBIs in the season series as well.

Bisons' Bits

The Herd in .500 at home, 33-33. A win today win assure at least a split of the home schedule at Coca-Cola Field. Buffalo was 36-35 at home in 2017, and have finished with a winning record at home twice since 2013.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (60-69) have won back-to-back games against the Philadelphia Phillies with an 8-6 win on Saturday. SS Aledmys Diaz clubbed a bases-clearing double to complete the Blue Jays' comeback. RHP Joe Biagini earned the win in relief, while Ken Giles collected his second save in as many days as well. Toronto goes for the sweep this afternoon with RHP Marco Estrada on the bump (1:07 p.m.). Following the game, Toronto will head out on the road to begin a six-game trip, first in Baltimore.
