Bakersfield Condors News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads (22-7-1-4, 49pts) swept their two-game weekend series against the Bakersfield Condors (8-25-1-2, 19pts) with an 8-3 victory Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Bakersfield held a 17-14 shot lead in the opening frame, but couldn't sneak one past G Tyler Beskorowany. Meanwhile, a disastrous 86 seconds late in the period provided Idaho with a comfortable lead. The Steelheads scored three times on Condors G Brian Stewart during that span, and took the lead into the dressing room.
A trio of second period goals blew the game wide open for the Steelheads. F Mathieu Tousignant had a goal and an assist in the frame for Idaho, who posted a 12-8 shot advantage in the period.
After surrendering an early third period tally the Condors finally beat Beskerowany. F Liam Huculak redirected a shot from former Steelhead D Deron Cousens to put Bakersfield on the board at 5:55. Idaho later made it 8-1 at the 8:00 mark to end Stewart's night in net. F Francis Verreault notched a late power play tally for his second goal in as many nights. F Brett Lyon added the last tally of the evening with just over a minute remaining to account for the final score.
