January 5, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Orlando Solar Bears News Release

Evansville, IN - The Solar Bears struck first but couldn't hold off the IceMen in a 5-1 loss to Evansville at the Ford Center on Friday night.

Three minutes into the game's opening frame, RW Dan Gendur struck to give the Solar Bears a 1-0 lead. Gendur picked up the puck on the left wing and rang a shot off the right goal post and into the back of the net. It was the lone goal of the first period, as the Solar Bears held the 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.

Evansville changed their fortunes in the middle frame, locking the score up at 1-1 when LW Wade MacLeod tapped a rebound over the outstretched glove of G John Curry 8:22 into the period. The goal opened up the flood gates, as the IceMen took a 2-1 lead at the 12:38 mark on a goal by LW Josh Beaulieu. Evansville then struck for two goals in 40 seconds, as an errant shot from the point bounced off the boards to RW Sebastian Wannstrom who put the puck in the back of the net at 15:56, and C Dylan Clarke capped off the second period scoring on a rebound goal at 16:36 to give the IceMen a 4-1 lead going into the third.

Despite some good chances for Orlando in the third period, they were unable to solve Evansville G Paul Dainton. RW Nathan Moon boosted the lead with a late period power play goal, cutting through the slot and slipping a shot just past G Hannu Toivonen, who took over for Curry at the start of the third, for the game's final 5-1 score.
