
Caleb Bushyhead arrives from Orem; Eric Stamets placed on the 7-day DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that INF Caleb Bushyhead will join the Kernels from the Orem Owlz (PIO) and that INF Eric Stamets has been placed on the 7-day DL. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Friday.
The Angels selected Bushyhead in the 29th round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In 19 games at Orem he is batting .297 (19-64) with four doubles, a triple, 10 RBI and 10 walks. He finished his college career at OU batting .283 with 7 HR and 73 RBI in 163 starts.
Stamets is the Angels sixth round selection in the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Evansville. In 31 games for the Kernels, he is batting .314 with five doubles a HR and 10 RBI.
Bushyhead will arrive in Cedar Rapids today and be active for tonight's 6:35 pm game with the Fort Wayne Tincaps, the Midwest League affiliate of the San Diego Padres. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with four players on the disabled list.
The Kernels continue a six game home stand tonight at 6:35 pm against the Fort Wayne TinCaps with the gates opening at 5:30 pm. The current home stand continues through Monday, July 23rd.
