Montz 5 RBI Lead Zephyrs to a 12-1 Win

PAPILLION, Nebraska - Luke Montz crushed a first inning grand-slam and the New Orleans Zephyrs rolled to a 12-1 victory over the Omaha Storm chasers at Werner Park.

The Zephyrs sent nine batters to the plate in the first inning scoring six runs. Mike Cervenak had a two out single to score Bryan Petersen. Matt Dominguez singled home Cervenak following an infield error. Montz crushed a grand-slam to left field to cap the scoring.

The Zephyrs sent nine batters to the plate in the second inning scoring five runs off of a six hits. Omaha starter Mike Montgomery was chased after an inning and a third. He allowed 11 runs, 4 earned on 11 hits in the defeat.

The Zephyrs had a season high 18 hits led by Montz four hits and five runs batted in. Cervenak also had four hits and an RBI. Dominguez added three hits and two RBI.

Elih Villanueva pitched six innings allowed one run on three hits and earned the win. It's his first win as a starter since last August 25th vs. Omaha.

The series is even at one with the rubber match Friday night.
