Braves Homestand Opens with 5-3 Win

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves overcame a three run deficit and defeated the Greenville Drive

5-3 Tuesday evening before 2,764 fans.The Drive were the first on the board in the third inning after two singles by Jose Vinicio and Jose Garcia, a hits batsman and a sacrifice fly by Garin Cecchini to plate Vinicio to give Greenville the

1-0 lead. They would add to their score in the fifth inning after an RBI single by Cecchini and a sacrifice fly by David Renfroe for a 3-0 advantage. The Braves offense would awaken in the bottom of the inning with three runs on three hits. Cory Brownsten was issued a one-out walk and advanced on an Elmer Reyes double, before scoring on an RBI single by Tony Mueller. Mueller would then steal second and score on an RBI base hit by Kyle Kubitza to notch the game at three. Rome took the lead in the sixth inning on a Will Skinner (5) solo homer and got an insurance run in the eighth thanks to a Brandon Drury (2) home run for the 5-3 victory.

Rafael Briceno (3-5) pitched solidly for the Braves, going six innings and allowing three runs while striking out four en route to his third win of the season. Greenville's Raynel Velette (0-1) would record the loss after relieving Drive starter Jason Garcia in the sixth inning.
