The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum (MPDM) is pleased to announce it has been given the honor of housing the latest installment in Rose Traine's extensive impact on the Central Michigan region through the dedication of her sculpture "The Gust Buster" at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Mary McGuire Elementary in Mt Pleasant. At that time, Ms. Rose Traine's daughter, Ms. Claudia Lang, will be honored for her 25 years as a local educator. The sculpture celebrates Ms. Lang's career and educators everywhere.

"The Gust Buster" will be housed in the Mt Pleasant Discovery Museum, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2012. The museum broke ground in December, 2011, on a 12,000 sq.ft. facility that will house nine exhibit areas with an emphasis on children ages 0-12 through an array of activities that celebrate fun, hands-on learning activities. The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum is in the second phase of its capital campaign and is actively seeking exhibit sponsors and individual donors to raise the final $1.8 million remaining for exhibit fabrication and installation, first year operating expenses, and an endowment for the museum.

Individuals or corporations interested in sponsorships, making a donation or becoming a founding partner through a matching grant can contact Heather Frisch of the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum at (989) 317-3221.

The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2008, dedicated to establishing a unique, hands-on, educational experience for children ages 0-12 and their families in Isabella, Clare, Gratiot, Midland, Mecosta and Montcalm counties.
