Three Cougars Selected for Midwest League All-Star Game

GENEVA, IL - The Midwest League has announced the rosters for the 2012 Midwest League All-Star Game, which will be held on Tuesday, June 19 and hosted by the Kane County Cougars at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Three Cougars players have been named to the Western Division All-Star team: outfielders Lane Adams, Jorge Bonifacio and pitcher Nick Graffeo. Adams and Bonifacio were named starting outfielders for the Western Division squad, which will be managed by Cougars skipper Brian Buchanan. The rest of the Cougars' field staff, which includes pitching coach Jim Brower, hitting coach Julio Bruno, athletic trainer Mark Keiser, and strength and conditioning coordinator David Kathmann, fill out the Western Division field staff.

Both Adams and Bonifacio rank at or near the top in several offensive categories among Midwest League hitters. Entering play on Monday, Adams and Bonifacio are each batting .318, a tie for 5th-best among league hitters. Bonifacio's 71 base hits lead the league while Adams holds a share of second place with 69 hits. Graffeo has recorded 8 saves as the primary closer out of manager Brian Buchanan's bullpen.

Rosters from both All-Star squads are included with this release. Past Kane County Cougars who have been named Midwest League All-Stars include some notable names to baseball fans. That distinguished list includes Nelson Cruz ('03), Adrian Gonzalez ('01), Kevin Millar ('94), Charles Johnson ('93) and Gregg Zaun ('91).
