Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones used a big first inning to post a 10-3 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Wednesday night.
The RailCats jumped on Kansas City starter Ryne Reynoso in the top of the first inning. The first four batters of the game reached base. Adam Klein walked on a full count and stole second. Mike Massaro recorded a bunt single and Brad Boyer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Cristian Guerrero lined a single to right, driving home two.
Kansas City batted around in the bottom of the inning, taking control with six runs. Keanon Simon led off with his first homer of the season, the first of four straight batters to record hits. Aharon Eggleston, Brian Joynt, and Nick Farnsworth all posted run scoring hits in the frame. Massaro coaxed a bases loaded walk as the RailCats answered with a run in the top of the second without the advantage of a hit. Reynoso walked three and hit one in the inning but settled down from there, throwing well over 100 pitches in an eight-inning effort to improve to 2-0.
The T-Bones added a run in the bottom of the inning on the second leadoff homer of the game as Jimmy Mojica netted his second of the series. Kansas City added single runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to account for the final, amassing 18 hits in the game. Jack Frawley suffered the loss for the RailCats. Guerrero and Mike Valadez each posted two hits in the game to lead the RailCats offense. Brian Grening tossed a scoreless eighth inning.
