Fort Worth Cats News Release

Wade Mackey came to the park as a reliever who hadn't started in three years. He left with a complete-game, two-hit victory over Wichita.

After MIke Bacsik was scratched from his start due to stiffness, Mackey got the nod and threw just 86 pitches en route to an 8-1 win at LaGrave Field. He notched eight one-pitch outs.

"They told me to always come ready to pitch." Mackey said. "I was spotting my fastball well and everything was working for me today."

Manager Stan Hough observed, "He had great command of the strike zone.. I want the guys to always be ready to throw nine innings, and Wade's effort today is what a manager is talking about when he says that."

Trent Lockwood and Cameron Monger each had a homer and three RBI as the Cats roughed up Wingnuts starter Jonathan Ellis for six runs and twelve hits in just four innings of work. Marcos Rodriguez also had three hits.

The Cats will begin their first road trip of the year as they travel to Sioux City for a three-game set beginning on Friday, which will be followed by a three-game in St. Paul against the Saints.
