Shawn Bowman Drives in Four Runs for Fisher Cats

Reading, PA - Shawn Bowman broke an 8-8 tie with a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning and Brian Jeroloman added a two-run shot in the eighth and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats went on to an 12-10 win on Tuesday night in Reading.

Boomer Potts (1-0) worked two scoreless innings in relief to earn his first Double-A win on a night when the Fisher Cats bullpen was put to heavy use after starter Randy Boone had to leave the game after three batters after suffering an ankle injury trying to field a grounder in the first inning.

Trystan Magnuson earned his third save, coming on to get Tagg Bozied (2-for-6, HR, 3 RBI) to line out to end the marathon with the tying runs on base for the Phillies. With the win, the Fisher Cats (33-20) move to a season-high 13 games over .500.

Darin Mastroianni (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI) led off the ballgame with his third home run into the picnic tables above the left field wall to give the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead.

Reading tied the game in the bottom of the first. Michael Spidale and Domonic Brown (4-for-6, 3 RBI, 3 R) singled. On Brown's single, a slow roller between the pitcher's mound and first base, Boone was injured and had to leave the game. Bozied picked up an RBI with a single off Bubbie Buzachero.

New Hampshire knocked Reading starter Josh Fogg out after batting around in the top of the second inning, scoring six runs. Adam Loewen led off with a walk and Jonathan Jaspe doubled. David Cooper knocked in a run when reaching on an error and Manny Mayorson (3-for-5) singled home Jaspe to make it 3-0. Jeroloman (1-for-4, 2 RBI) walked and Mastroianni singled home Cooper to make it 4-0. Callix Crabbe drove in a run with a sacrifice foul fly and Bowman ended Fogg's outing with a two-run single to give the Fisher Cats a 7-1 lead.

Reading made it 7-2 in the last of the second on John Suomi's first homer and cut the deficit to 7-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brown homered to center on a play in which New Hampshire center field Darin Mastroianni collided with the wall and had to leave the game. The R-Phils then tacked on three more runs on a single by Ozzie Chavez and a two-run triple for Freddy Galvis.

Adam Loewen doubled home Bowman, who had walked, in the top of the fourth inning for an 8-6 lead for New Hampshire.

Reading (21-29) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Bozied.

Bowman put the Fisher Cats up in the top of the seventh with his fifth home run off losing pitcher Jason Anderson (0-1). Jeroloman hit a two-run homer off Anderson to make it 11-8 in the eighth before Crabbe and Bowman added back-to-back doubles for a 12-8 lead.

Reading scored two in the bottom of the eighth to make it 12-10 on a bases loaded double by Suomi (3-for-5, 3 RBI). off reliever Tim Collins. Collins started the ninth but gave way to Magnuson after the Phils threatened with a walk to Freddy Galvis and a single to Domonic Brown.

The Fisher Cats continue the three-game series Wednesday night in Reading. RHP Zach Stewart (2-1, 6.02) is scheduled to start for New Hampshire against Reading RHP Phillipe Aumont (1-5, 6.85). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.
