West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that forward Bobby Hughes has been assigned to the team by the NHL's New York Islanders.Hughes, a fourth-round selection of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2006 NHL draft, was acquired by the Islanders August 31, 2009 from Carolina in exchange for former Utah forward Rob Hennigar.
The 22-year-old Ontario native played in five games with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers this year and logged 53 AHL games with Albany of the AHL from 2007-2009.
He will be in action when the Grizzlies return to the E-Center tonight, Saturday and Sunday (4:05 p.m.) to host Las Vegas.
