Gladiators Sign Goaltender David Brown

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender David Brown. Brown will be available to play this weekend when the Gladiators visit the South Carolina Stingrays for two games. Brown was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round with the 228th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Last season, Brown appeared in four games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL and 24 with the Wheeling Nailers, posting a 15-8-2 record between the teams and turning in a 3.16 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. The 6'0" 185-pound Stoney Creek, Ontario native also split time between the same teams in 2007-2008, posting a 15-13-2 record in 32 total games played.

Prior to making his pro debut with Wheeling in 2007, Brown played four collegiate years at Notre Dame (CCHA), recording a 55-38-11 record, including 30 wins his senior year in 2006-07. He was named to the 2007 First Team All-CCHA squad, 2007 CCHA All-Tournament Team and Tournament MVP, and was named Team MVP, and Hobey Baker Award Finalist his senior season.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Friday, November 20th at South Carolina at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
