Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced today that winger Brett Gallant has been loaned to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) and that winger Tim Spencer has been assigned to Elmira on a conditioning basis by the Jackals' AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Gallant leads the ECHL with nine major penalties and is second in the league with 73 penalty minutes, which leads all rookies.

"Pound for pound, Brett is as tough a player as there is. His style is like Joe Kocur; he's trying to knock his opponent out in every fight," Jackals coach Steve Martinson said.

Spencer was originally acquired by the Jackals this summer from the Las Vegas Wranglers in exchange for Craig Switzer. He topped the Wranglers with 196 penalty minutes last season and was sixth in the ECHL, and his 69 penalty minutes this season lead the Senators.

"It will be fun to see Tim. I spent the summer working on a trade for him, and he earned a spot with Binghamton with his hard work at the Senators training camp," Martinson said. "It will be nice to get him in the lineup."

The Jackals host the Wheeling Nailers Friday and Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. at First Arena.
