Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, announce they have teamed up with Passion of Christ Ministries to serve a Thanksgiving meal to the homeless on Wednesday, November 25th at a local Upland park. Several volunteers are working together to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal for 100 people, including the homeless, volunteers and the Ontario Reign players. Not only will the players serve the homeless, they will sit side-by-side and enjoy a meal with them. "The feeling of self-worth that is generated by this kind gesture goes a long way in the hearts of the homeless," said Frank Guerrero, Co-Founder of Passion of Christ Ministries. "We are hoping that everyone who attends will leave with a more thankful heart," he adds.

"Our mission is to feed, clothe and bring healing to the homeless and needy families in and around the Inland Empire," added Frank. "There is more focus on helping the homeless during the holiday season, but the truth is they are in need every day of the year. That is why there are several Inland Empire locations we visit all year long."

"We are honored to be asked to be part of this special occasion," said Reign coach, Karl Taylor. "If a simple deed like this can have a positive influence on someone then we are happy to do it. This is another opportunity for the players to realize that there is a purpose for them in the community that goes far beyond hockey," he added.

There are several ways the community can help support the local homeless through Passion of Christ Ministries. New and gently used blankets, sleeping bags, jackets and sweaters are always in demand as well as non-perishable food items, toiletries, bottled water, and monetary contributions.
