
Reading Beats Florida For The Second Straight Game

Estero, Fla - The Florida Everblades battled the Reading Royals Friday night after losing 5-3 in the first match of the three-game series. Goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu started the game for the Blades and stopped 27 of 32 shots. The Everblades didn't fair well losing the contest 5-2 in front of a crowd of 5,480. This was the Royals second consecutive win over the Everblades. Royals forward Andrew Sarauer scored the game-winning goal and Ryan Cruthers added a goal and an assist in the victory.
Everblades center Ross Carlson opened the scoring in the first stanza after he tallied his second goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. Rob Hennigar and A.J. Thelen added the assists. With 3:40 left in the period, the Royals tied the game at 1-1 after Ryan Cruthers put home a rebound for his third goal of the season. The Royals scored two quick goals 56-seconds apart closing out the first period up 3-1 over the Blades. The Everblades out-shot the Royals 18-8.
The Everblades highlighted a scoreless second period by holding the Royals 0-5 on the power play keeping the score at 3-1 heading into the final stanza.
Everblades center Matt Caria put home a power play tally at 5:56 in the final stanza. The goal was Caria's fourth of the season, but his first in a Blades uniform. Center Jordan Morrison and left winger Ernie Hartlieb added helpers on the goal which made the score 3-2. Left winger Stefano Giliati put the Royals up 4-2 after scoring his eighth goal of the season at 17:59. Reading kept piling on the goals with 1:21 left in the game as Ben Gordon upped the lead 5-2.
