Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliates of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarch, took home the victory 3-2 over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 4,504 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena Friday evening. David Walker scored twice and Maxime Boisclair found the net for the first time this season in the win.
The Reign (7-4-0-1, 15 points) and Condors (3-7-0-1, 7 points) competed in two regular season match-ups prior to Friday's game, with the teams splitting the series one apiece. The teams held each other scoreless in the first period of play, but the Condors came up with the first goal of the night to put them ahead of the Reign, 1-0 at 1:41 in the second period. Forty-five seconds later, Reign defenseman David Walker tied the match at one as he notched his second goal of the season, sending the puck past Condors goaltender Dave McKee. Left wing Ryan MacGregor and center Tim Kraus registered the assist, extending Kraus' point streak to five games. Bakersfield forward Matt Caruana put the Condors ahead at the 11:44 mark as he slipped the puck past Reign netminder Jeff Zatkoff to hold the score, 2-1, heading into the third.
The third period was all about the Reign as David Walker helped lead the club's late come back. Scoring his second goal of the night and the Reign's first power play goal of the evening Walker found the back of the net off assists from center Jon Francisco and right wing Jon Rheault to bring the game back to 2-2 at 9:26. Fifty-one seconds later, right wing Maxime Boisclair notched the game-winner, and his first goal of the season, when he lit the lamp on a power play goal off assists from defensemen Andrew Martens and David Walker to seal the victory 3-2.
Reign goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 37 of the 39 shots he faced in the victory and was credited with the win.
