Harrisburg, PA - Former Harrisburg Senator RHP Collin Balester is expected to make his major-league debut tonight for the Washington Nationals against the Florida Marlins. The Nationals purchased Balester's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Monday night.

Balester, 22, was selected by the Expos in the 4th round of the 2004 draft. He made a splash with Harrisburg late in 2006 as a 20-year-old, going 1-0 with a 1.83 ERA in three starts. Balester began 2007 with Harrisburg, going 2-7 with a 3.54 ERA. He was an Eastern League All-Star but played in the All-Star Futures Game in San Francisco before being promoted to Columbus. Balester entered this season rated the No. 3 prospect in the Nationals organization by Baseball America.

A native of Huntington Beach, California, Balester becomes the second former Senator to make his major-league debut in a week. OF Roger Bernadina joined the Nationals on Sunday and went 1-for-5 in his first game.

The Senators continue a four-game homestand tonight against the Bowie Baysox. The series runs through Thursday night with each game starting at 6:35 PM. A fireworks show is slated for after the game on Thursday, July 3rd, presented by WINK 104 and the Pennsylvania Lottery.
