Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - On a wet, muggy night at Commerce Bank Park, the Senators offense could never get untracked in their 6-4 loss to the Binghamton Mets. The Sens offense had several opportunities, but couldn't take advantage of any of them against B-Mets starter and winner Bobby Parnell.

Mike Hinckley made the start for the Senators, his first on the season, pitching five innings allowing five runs. Hinckley allowed a two-run home run in the second, after an error, and then three more in the fifth. He walked three batters in the fifth inning.

The Senators had a lead-off double off the bat of Andrew Lefave in the third, but didn't score. In the fourth, they put two on with no outs, but came up empty. They finally broke through in the sixth when Garrett Guzman scored on a wild pitch, but they left runners at first and third. From the third inning on, the Senators had at least one base runner in each inning.

With the Senators down to their final out in the 9th, Guzman hammered a three-run homer to cut it to 6-4.

Lefave had two hits as did Roger Bernadina. The Senators also bounced into two double plays that short circuited possible scoring chances.

Ambiorix Concepcion put the Mets on the board with a two-run home run in the second. Dan Murphy doubled in a run in the fifth, and then Mike Carp followed with a two-run single to make the score 5-0.

The final game of the three-game series with the Mets is Thursday night at 6:35pm. The Sens send RHP Shairon Martis to the mound against RHP Salvador Aguilar for Binghamton.
