Aerodynamics...

Comeback in Peril...On the first night of their six-game road trip to the Northeast, the Aeros managed to overcome a three-run deficit to the Fisher Cats only to give it right back to the home team in a 7-5 defeat. Trailing 4-1 after seven innings and limited to just one base runner and no hits since the second, Akron started its go-ahead rally with one away in the top of the eighth when CF Trevor Crowe singled and scored on an RBI double from SS Josh Rodriguez. After a walk and a fly out put runners at the corners with two gone, RF Bronson Sardinha hammered a 2-2 fastball off the video board in right-center for his first home run as an Aero and a 5-4 advantage. The lead didn't last long though, as New Hampshire's Ryan Klosterman tied the game with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the frame, and Aaron Matthews then delivered his second two-run double of the night to plate the winning runs. Akron had a chance in the top of the ninth with runners on the corners and two down, but Sardinha grounded to second to end the game.

Hawaiian Punch...RF Bronson Sardinha's three-run blast last night extended his season-high hitting streak to six games, and also gave him eight RBI in just seven games since joining the Aeros May 27th from Class AAA Buffalo. The native of Kailua, HI is hitting .269 (7-26) over his streak and is raking in the clutch, hitting .364 (4-11) with runners in scoring position. A former first-round pick of the New York Yankees who made his Major League debut last season, Sardinha signed with the Indians in May after beginning the year in the Seattle organization at Class AAA Tacoma.

Walk This Way...Aeros C Chris Gimenez continues to get himself on base through sheer patience, with 18 walks in his last 15 games and an insane .492 on-base percentage over that span. The University of Nevada product has drawn multiple walks in four of his last 10 games, leads the Eastern League with 41 free passes on the year, and leads the club with a .458 OBP for the year (third-best in the league).

Debut and Return...LHP Reid Santos made his 2008 Akron debut yesterday and RHP T.J. Burton followed him out of the bullpen in his first appearance for the Aeros since his placement at Class-A Mahoning Valley May 21st. Santos came down from Class AAA Buffalo prior to the game after a rocky start with the Bisons (2-2, 7.20 ERA) and looked very comfortable, not allowing a runner past first base and notching a pair of strikeouts in two innings of work, while Burton showcased his revamped setup and arm slot while turning in a scoreless inning in the seventh. Burton, who pitches exclusively from the stretch, now works from the extreme third base side of the rubber and releases from a low three-quarters arm slot.

Did You Know...The Aeros have been outscored by 26 runs this year (260-234) yet are three games over .500 (29-26).
