Jack Wilson Expected To Continue Rehab Assignment At Blair County Ballpark

ALTOONA- Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson is expected to continue his injury rehabilitation assignment with the Altoona Curve Friday evening against the Trenton Thunder (AA/New York Yankees) at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona. Friday's game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

Wilson played in the final three games of the Curve's series against the Akron Aeros at Canal Park in Akron, going 1-for-8 (.125) at the plate with one walk, a hit by pitch and one run scored. He also played seven innings of defense in each of the three contests at Akron, recording 12 assists, five putouts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

He began his minor league rehab stint last weekend with Triple-A Indianapolis and was 4-for-12 (.333) with two RBI in four games for the Indians. Wilson was placed on Pittsburgh's 15-day Disabled List on April 6th with an injured calf muscle, which was suffered during the April 3rd game at Atlanta.

Wilson played for the Altoona Curve during the franchise's second season in 2000. He joined the Curve in early August that season after being acquired from St. Louis in the trade that sent pitcher Jason Christiansen to the Cardinals. In 33 games with Altoona in 2000, Wilson hit .252 (35x139) with one home run, 16 RBI and one stolen base. The following year, he was the Pittsburgh Pirates' Opening Day shortstop.
