Hernandez Quiets Cat's Bats As Home Streak Hits 13

(Bowie, MD) - David Hernandez held the Fisher Cats to two hits in 7.0 innings and Lou Montanez and Nolan Reimold both hit two-run homeruns in the Baysox 5-2 victory Friday night. The win is the Baysox franchise-record thirteenth in a row at Prince George's Stadium. Bowie remains 0.5 games behind Harrisburg in the Southern Division.

New Hampshire scored both their runs in the second inning. With one out, David Hernandez issued three straight walks to Ryan Klosterman, Scott Campbell and Ryan Patterson to load the bases. Travis Snyder singled to right to drive in Klosterman and Campbell before David Smith grounded into a double play to end the inning. Hernandez would only allow one other batter to reach base in 7.0 innings.

Lou Montanez hit a two-run homerun to left to tie the game in the bottom of the third. The game would remain tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Baysox scored a run thanks to aggressive baserunning.

Sebastien Boucher walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh. He attempted to steal second on a 3-1 pitch and Blake Davis bunted down the third base line. Third baseman Anthony Hatch threw to first to retire Davis and Boucher rounded second and never stopped running. First baseman Josh Kreuzer threw to third, but his throw was high and Boucher slid in safely. Mike Rodriguez singled to left to drive in Boucher and give the Baysox a 3-2 lead. Nolan Reimold would add a pair of insurance runs with a long homerun to left-center field in the bottom of the eighth.

Kam Mickolio pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Hernandez and allowed a pair of hits, but he also picked a runner off of first base. Julio Manon retired the Fisher Cats in order in the ninth to record his thirteenth save.

The Baysox will play the Fisher Cats again Friday on World Record Attempt Night at 7:05 p.m. at Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox will attempt to set the world record for most people playing the kazoo at one time when 3,000 fans play "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during the seventh inning stretch. The Baysox will also host 3-Time World Champion Pizza Acrobat Joe Carlucci as he attempts to break the world record for the highest pizza toss. AST Dew Tour Athlete Matthieu "Gumby" Therres and the Charm City Skate Team will also perform in the stadium parking lot before the game. World Record Attempt night is sponsored by the School of Martial Science & Fitness.
