Altoona Curve News Release
ERIE- The Altoona Curve matched season highs in hits and runs scored while evening their record to .500 with an impressive 8-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park on Thursday night.
Eight of the nine Curve players in the batting order recorded hits, while five Curve batters enjoyed a multi-hit night.
On the rubber, Josh Hill (2-1) enjoyed his most productive outing of the season, as the righty allowed just two runs and three hits over six innings of work to secure the win. After Hill was steaked to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, he allowed a two-run home run to Danny Worth. After he allowed the long ball, Hill went on to retire the next 13 batters he faced and allowed just two base runners thereafter.
Hill gave way to Brian Rogers who pitched perfect frames in the seventh and eighth, striking out a pair. Rogers has not allowed a run in his last 14 innings of work, dating back to April 3 versus Reading (Opening Night).
The Curve (10-10) scored four runs off Erie starter Andrew Kown (2-2) before lighting up reliever Matt Righter for four runs over his 2 2/3 innings of work. Altoona grabbed a pair in each the seventh and eighth. The big-blow of the ballgame came in the eighth, as Melvin Dorta, who enjoyed the best night among Curve hitters, going 3-for-5, took Righter deep for his first home run of the year, which put the Curve up, 8-2.
Erie added a run in the top of the ninth off Pat Bresnehan to close out the scoring.
