Fisher Cats fall to Baysox 7-3 Thursday night

(Manchester, NH)---Ryan Patterson (1-for-3) doubled in two runs for the Fisher Cats in the first inning but Bowie rolled to a 7-3 win over New Hampshire in the opening game of a seven-game homestand before 3,946 Thursday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Patterson, who leads the Eastern League with 10 doubles, plated Aaron Mathews and Chris Gutierrez to tie the game at 2-2 against Chris Waters.

Waters (4-0) allowed 3 earned runs in 5.1 IP and became the league's first four-game winner thanks to the support of a productive offense. The Baysox (10-10) had 13 hits and benefited from nine walks issued by Fisher Cats pitching. Waters allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out five. Ryan Keefer and Jim Miller combined to pitch 3.2 innings of scoreless relief for Bowie.

The Baysox scored two in the first inning against starter Jean Machi (0-1). Nolan Reimold (4-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, BB) and Zach Dillon (2-for-3) had RBI singles.

Ryan Finan (0-for-2, RBI, 4 BB) had an RBI ground in the top of the second inning to put the Baysox up 3-2. They extended the lead to 4-2 on Reimold's home run to centerfield in the third inning. Reimold also added an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Pinch-hitter Anthony Hatch walked with the bases loaded in the sixth inning for the Fisher Cats (5-14) to make it a 5-3 game.

Lou Montanez (4-for-6, RBI, 2B) also had an RBI for the Baysox in a two-run seventh inning that put Bowie up 7-3.

Aaron Mathews (3-for-5) had three singles for the Fisher Cats to raise his average to .307.

The series continues Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium against the Bowie Baysox at 6:35pm. RHP Bradley Bergesen (0-0, 0.00) makes his first Eastern League start for the Orioles Double-A affiliate against LHP A. J. Wideman (0-2, 5.40) for New Hampshire. NOTES: Scott Campbell, the Eastern League's leading hitter at .444 missed his third straight game with a sore wrist for the Fisher Cats....Bowie left runners on in every inning and 16 for the game.
