Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA- Either Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton or John McCain will become the 44th President of the United States, and chances are, they'll be remembered for a long time to come, as all three candidates have distinguishing characteristics that will allow them to be etched in our memory banks.
However, there are those previous leaders of the free world that simply have become just a distant memory. The Altoona Curve are doing their best to put an end to the lack of attention given to previous, less-known presidents (yes, we mean you James K. Polk).
Tonight at Blair County Ballpark at 6:35 p.m. against the Akron Aeros, and on the eve of the Pennsylvania primary, the Curve will hold a town-hall meeting (well, actually just a baseball game) on "Salute to Forgotten Presidents Night." The fun, fact-finding endeavor will be informative, educational and entertaining (well, mostly the latter).
Salute to Forgotten Presidents Night at BCB will also have added value for those fans who share the same last name as one our nation's leaders. Fans who bring a valid photo ID to prove they share a surname with one of the 43 U.S. President's will receive a 50% discount on tickets in the UMPC Health Plan Home Run Junction (Outfield Reserved Bleachers).
Fans coming to BCB will be privy to information that nine U.S. President's did not attend college (you'd be shocked at the list of names). Also being revealed this evening will be the factoid that James Buchanan was the only President to originally hail from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the only unmarried man to occupy the White House. In addition, the most portly of all U.S Presidents, and the first to throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to a baseball game, William Taft, will make a special appearance during one of the between-inning contests during the game.
The Curve invite all fans to bring their copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, or to resoundingly belt out the Preamble to the Constitution whenever they see fit, or even don their favorite attire (modern or "throw-back") to show their presidential patriotism during tonight's game.
All Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Green Party, Whigs, Democratic-Republicans, and Federalists are invited to attend.
Great seats are still available and can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE, by logging onto AltoonaCurve.com, or in person at the Blair County Ballpark Box Office.
