Stockton Ports Assisting Relief Efforts for Hurricane Katrina

The Stockton Ports, with help from the American Red Cross will be hosting Relief Fund collections at Banner Island Ballpark at this weekend's three-game series against the San Jose Giants to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina and local Red Cross relief efforts. All ticket revenue from the Ports Sunday, September 4th game vs. the Giants will be donated to the Red Cross for relief efforts. The Ports are urging all fans and the community of Stockton to ‘fill the ballpark' in helping the Disaster Relief Fund. Game time is 6:05 pm, with the ballpark opening at 5:00 pm. There is a Labor Day Post-Game Fireworks Extravaganza scheduled to start immediately following the completion of the game.

American Red Cross representatives will be in attendance accepting relief effort donations at all three games of the series and answering any questions fans may have in an effort to help all of the victims.

Any fans that make a donation of $20 or more to the American Red Cross at Banner Island Ballpark over the 3-game series this weekend will receive one free Playoff ticket to a Ports 2005 Post-Season Game.

Stockton Ports Concessions are also donating 6,000 bottles of Culligan water to the Hurricane Relief Efforts and local disaster training.

"Banner Island Ballpark is the largest venue of its kind in San Joaquin Valley," said Ports General Manager Mike McCarroll. "There is no doubt that the Valley community wants to help in relief efforts. We want to raise as much money possible for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and local Red Cross relief efforts."

The Ports will also be donating 20% of selected merchandise revenue to the American Red Cross Relief Fund, plus will be donating a portion of monies collected from the Ports Team Jersey Auction that will be taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
