JetHawks Fall 10-2 to Inland Empire, Gain Post Season Berth

(Lancaster, CA) - Danny Richar collected two hits for the JetHawks on Wednesday night. However, the JetHawks dropped a 10-2 decision to the Inland Empire 66ers at Clear Channel Stadium at Lancaster, CA. Even with the loss, the JetHawks secured a berth in the post season.

Wladimer Baletine hit the first of his two home runs in the top of the first inning to give the 66ers an early 2-0 lead.

Trailing 6-0 in the sixth, Balentine blasted his second home run of the game. The three-run home run was the 25th of the year for the 66ers centerfielder and gave Inland Empire a 9-0 lead.

The JetHawks got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth inning. Richar led off with a solo home run to make the score 10-1. It was the 18th home run for Richar. Later in the inning, Edgar Varela doubled and came home on the RBI single by Jay Garthwaite.

High Desert officially eliminated Rancho Cucamonga from the play off race with a win, and gave the JetHawks a spot in the California League play offs, which will start next week.

The series with Inland Empire and the six-game homestand concludes on Thursday night at Clear Channel Stadium. Chad Scarbery will go to the mound for the JetHawks and Chad Fillinger will make the start for the 66ers in the 7:00 P.M. game.
