Sens come back to win ninth straight

The Binghamton Senators extended their franchise-record winning streak to nine games on Wednesday night with a 5-4 victory against the Providence Bruins in front of 3,896 fans at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The win also marked the club’s franchise-record tenth consecutive win on home ice.

Binghamton winger Josh Langfeld picked up his second goal of the game at 15:33 of the third period. The short-handed goal sealed the win for the Sens giving them a 5-4 lead. Chris Kelly was credited with the assist on the game-winning tally.

Denis Hamel, Brian McGrattan and Brandon Bochenski each added goals for the Sens while Andy Hilbert, Brendan Walsh, Keith Aucoin, and Dan LaCouture found the back of the net for the Bruins. Hamel’s goal extended his point streak to ten games – a career high.

Ray Emery picked up the win for Binghamton, stopping 34 of 38 shots. With the victory Emery has now won an AHL career record six straight games. Cody Rudkowsky was stopped 32 of 37 in the loss for the Bruins.

Binghamton’s power play kept up their strong pace, scoring on two of their three opportunities. Providence was 1 for 5 with the man advantage.

Binghamton returns to action on Friday night when they travel to Rochester for a 7:35pm tilt with the Amerks. You can catch all of the action beginning at 7:05 p.m. on WINR 680-AM. The Sens return home on Saturday when they face the Albany River Rats at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased on www.ticketmaster.com, by calling the Sens Hotline at 722-SENS, or by visiting the Sens executive office located on the third floor of the Arena. The annual celebrity hockey game will also be on Saturday at 3 p.m.
