WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats (48-31) suffered their worst loss in club history on Monday at Raley Field, losing 21-4 to the Tacoma Rainiers (43-32). With the loss, the first-place River Cats have a five-and-a-half game lead over Tucson in the PCL South.

Tacoma scored 21 R on 25 H, both club records against the River Cats. 1B A.J. Zapp recorded a team-high 5 H for the Rainiers. Three Tacoma players recorded at least 4 H each in the game.

RHP Mike Ziegler (1-2) took the loss for Sacramento, allowing 10 R (8 ER) on 8 H in 2.2 IP. RHP Gustavo Martinez (3-2) earned the win for Tacoma.

The River Cats and Rainiers will play the final game of their four-game series on Tuesday (11:35 am) at Raley Field. Sacramento needs to win to avoid what would be just its second series loss of the season.
