Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

This time the rain stayed away as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Nashville Sounds split a pair of games at Sky Sox Stadium. In game one, the Sounds jumped on Sox' starting pitcher Adam Bernero and never let up as they won 8-4. Sounds starter Nelson Figueroa pitched a complete game to pick up the win. The Sox' offense was lead by Rene Reyes' 2-3 effort. Reyes had a double, an RBI and a run scored. In game two, Rene Reyes played hero not once, but twice. Sox relief pitcher Vladimir Nunez allowed the Sounds to tie the game in the 7th and it took a game-saving play from Reyes to keep it tied. With Andy Abad on third for Nashville and one out, J. R. House hit a fly ball to right field that Reyes caught and made a strong throw to cut down the potential go ahead run at the plate. In the bottom of the 7th Jorge Piedra hit a pinch-hit single then was sacrificed over to second by Clint Barmes to set up the Reyes' heroics. Reyes laced a 0-1 pitch to the wall in right-center to seal the win for the Sox. The Sox and Sounds return to action tomorrow beginning at 7:05 at Sky Sox Stadium.
