July 19, 2024 - Kameron Kielly was one of the first Island-born players to dawn the Charlottetown Islanders colours.
He, along with Craig MacLauchlan and Zach Beaton were the first from Prince Edward Island to call the Eastlink Centre home in an Islanders jersey. Beaton comes from Stratford, MacLauchlan a native of Stanhope, and Kielly himself from Charlottetown.
Kielly, however, wasn't originally destined to play for his hometown team. He was taken 18th overall in the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft by the Gatineau Olympiques. Despite playing... Full Story
July 12, 2024 - During his playing days, Michael DiPaolo spent much of his time in the athletic therapist's room.
Classified as an enforcer, the role often came with him having to get his wrists taped before games; even getting injections in his wrists and knuckles so he could bend his hands and fingers.
Currently entering his fourth year of medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Bahrain (RCSI - Bahrain), the Brantford, Ontario native credits his time spent with medical professionals in junior hockey as what spar... Full Story
July 12, 2024 - The Charlottetown Islanders' first-round elimination at the hands of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar marked the end of the junior careers of Michael Horth, Cole Huckins and Giovanni Morneau.
Horth leaves Prince Edward Island as one of the best players in Islanders history: his 113 points rank him 15th, his 183 games 11th, and his 71 goals 7th.
The Islanders' ninth-round pick in 2019 (159th), Horth played one season with the Collège Charles-Lemoyne Riverains in the LM18AAAQ and was inactive for a year due to the pandemic, ... Full Story
