Ziprick Signs with Hurricanes, Joins Main Roster

Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release
LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Thursday they have signed 2005-born defenceman Aiden Ziprick to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.
Ziprick, 16, was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the seventh-round (148th overall) in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.
The late-birthday rearguard from Russell, MB, has appeared in 23 games this season with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League where he has record 12 points (6g-6a) along with four penalty minutes where he was fifth in team scoring.
"We thought Aiden had a really good camp for us this year but was sent to Junior-A unsigned. He went back to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines (MJHL) and worked really hard with their coach and GM Taylor Harnett to continue to improve his game and had a really good start to the year," said Hurricanes General Manager Peter Anholt. "He was generating a lot of interest from NCAA Universities, so we are very happy to get Aiden signed and are excited to add him to our group for the rest of the season."
The 6'1, 175-pound defenceman skated in 33 games last season with the Wolverines collecting 12 points (1g-11a) with two penalty minutes as a 16-year-old while also adding an assist in one post-season game with Waywayseecappo. Ziprick racked up 47 points (14g-33a) along with 42 penalty minutes in 2019-2020 with the Parkland Rangers U15 AAA team during his WHL Draft season.
Ziprick will join the Hurricanes for their US road trip this weekend and will remain on the main roster for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
The Hurricanes will return home to the ENMAX Centre on Tuesday, December 6th when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos before hosting the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday, December 9th in the 26th annual Canadian Tire Toque & Teddy Toss. Individual game tickets can be purchased in person at the ENMAX Centre Ticket Centre, the Yates Memorial Theatre Ticket Centre, by calling 403-329-SEAT (7328) or online at www.lethbridgehurricanes.com.
