WHL Names Monthly Award Winners

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard has been named the McSweeney's WHL Player of the Month for the month of November.

Bedard, who earned his second consecutive monthly honour, led all WHL skaters with 28 points (11G-17A) through the month of November; he enters the month of December on a 25-game point streak.

The 17-year-old, who hails from North Vancouver, B.C., posted nine multi-point games in November including a five-point effort November 9 versus the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Bedard also registered a hat-trick as part of a four-point night November 26 at Victoria.

Bedard begins the month of December leading all WHL skaters in goals (24), assists (33), points (57), power-play points (23) and shots on goal (163).

Originally selected by Regina with the first-overall pick in the 2020 WHL Draft, Bedard has amassed 185 points (87G-98A) over 103 regular season games.

HURRICANES NETMINDER MENEGHIN NAMED WHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH

The Western Hockey League announced today that Lethbridge Hurricanes goaltender Harrison Meneghin has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Month for the month of November.

Meneghin led all WHL goaltenders with seven wins in November, posting a 7-0-0-1 record, 1.96 goals-against average and .936 save percentage along the way.

The 18-year-old made 30 or more saves in five of his eight appearances in November including a 37-save performance November 25 at Brandon.

Meneghin, who hails from South Surrey, B.C., limited his opponents to two goals or fewer on five occasions this past month.

He currently sits second among rookie WHL netminders with 10 victories, while his 2.37 goals-against average and .921 save percentage are both in the top five among first-year WHL puck-stoppers.

Meneghin was originally signed by Lethbridge in September of 2021 and holds a career 10-3-0-1 record to go along with a 2.56 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.

Harrison Meneghin and the Lethbridge Hurricanes are next in action Friday, December 2 when they visit the Tri-City Americans (7:05 p.m. PT, Toyota Center).

GIANTS FORWARD HONZEK NAMED WHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH

The Western Hockey League announced today that Vancouver Giants forward Samuel Honzek has been named the WHL Rookie of the Month for the month of November.

Honzek, an 'A' rated prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft, led all WHL rookies with 13 assists during the month of November, concluding the month with 20 points (7G-13A).

The product of Trencin, Slovakia recorded at least a point in all but one of his 10 games played in November, collecting four points November 12 at Prince George and adding a trio of three-point efforts November 1 at Medicine Hat, November 13 against the Cougars and November 30 versus Moose Jaw.

The 6-foot-3, 181-pound forward led the Giants with seven goals this past month and is the only WHL rookie to currently lead his team in scoring.

Originally selected by Vancouver with the 10th-overall pick in the 2022 CHL Import Draft, Honzek has amassed 35 points (14G-21A) in 24 career WHL games with the Giants.
