Winnipeg Ice News Release
The Winnipeg ICE are proud to share that forward Zach Benson and defenceman Carson Lambos have been named Honorary Ambassadors of Kidsport Manitoba.
"I have been fortunate my entire life to play the game of hockey which I am deeply passionate about" said Benson. "KidSport is extremely important to me, as well as our community. All kids should have the opportunity to experience the fun and friendships that sport has brought me."
"I am honoured to join forces with Kidsport to help support youth athletics and the multi-sports they are involved with. Being a Winnipegger I know how important this organization is in our community to assist youth with the opportunity to participate in organized sports" added Lambos. "I've made so many lifelong friends through sport. Of course, I have been very fortunate to get a career out of hockey too, but the friendships and bonds I've made have been so special to me."
Since 2016, KidSport Manitoba has granted out over $1.5 million to give more than 6,000 kids the opportunity to experience the joys and triumphs of organized sport.
Benson, Lambos and the ICE will partner with Kidsport Manitoba at various events, including the Sport Manitoba Game Day event Saturday, January 7th where kids aged 5 to 10 will have the opportunity to try out various multi-sports plus other events to be announced in the near future.
Earlier this season, the ICE teamed up with Kidsport Manitoba to host a Skills Challenge at the Transcona East End CC.
The ICE are back in action with a pair of games, both starting at 7:05pm at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena this weekend. Friday, the Swift Current Broncos are in town followed by the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday. (6:30 pregame show on CFRW 1290 AM / WHL Live via CHL TV).
