
Blazers Scorch Pats 9-3

Kamloops, B.C. - A seven-goal second period helped pace the Kamloops Blazers to a 9-3 win over the visiting Regina Pats in front of a standing-room-only crowd on Wednesday night at the Sandman Centre.
Fraser Minten and Caeden Bankier each scored twice for the Blazers who moved into sole possession of first place in the B.C. Division (12-5-3-1). Matthew Seminoff, Logan Stankoven, Emmitt Finnie, Connor Levis, and Ashton Ferster scored for the Blazers. Dylan Ernst stopped 33 of 36 shots in the victory.
Connor Bedard scored twice and extended his point streak to 25 games and Alexander Suzdalev replied for the Pats who fell back to .500 on the season (12-12-1-1). Matthew Kieper blocked 14 of 23 Blazers shots before being replaced by Drew Sim who stopped all 10 shots he faced in relief and added an assist in the loss.
First Period
KAM 0-1 at 10:26 - Matthew Seminoff (8), assisted by Cadien Bankier and Ryan Michael // A poor line change caused the Blazers to get a break and Bankier sent a centering pass toward the front of Kieper and Seminoff tipped it past the Pats' keeper to get on the board up 1-0.
REG 1-1 at 10:48 - Connor Bedard (23), assisted by Tanner Howe // A turnover in the Blazers zone led to Bedard getting a nice attempt which was denied by Ernst but the rebound made its way to Howe who found Bedard who knocked it past the Blazer netminder to tie the game just 22 seconds later.
KAM 1-2 at 13:11 - Logan Stankoven (15), assisted by Logan Bairos // The Blazers broke in on a two-on-one, and Stankoven chose to shoot and wired the puck far side over Kieper's blocker to restore the Blazers lead at 2-1.
Second Period
KAM 1-3 at 3:54 - Fraser Minten (8), assisted by Logan Stankoven and Aapo Sarell // The Pats got caught on a long shift early in the second period and Stankoven fed a nice pass to Minten who ripped a one-timer past Kieper to give the Blazers a two-goal lead at 3-1.
KAM 1-4 at 6:15 - Emmitt Finnie (2), assisted by Logan Stankoven and Fraser Minten // Stankoven took over the shift as he was wheeling around the Pats zone, he got by a defender and centered the puck to Finnie who tipped it past Kieper to give the Blazers a 4-1 lead.
KAM 1-5 at 8:36 - Fraser Minten (9), unassisted // Minten powered his way into the Pats zone got around Feist, did a nice deke on Kieper, and buried his second of the game to give the Blazers a four-goal lead at 5-1.
KAM 1-6 at 0:00 - Caeden Bankier (16), unassisted // Bedard got his pocket picked inside the Blazer line by Bankier who busted in alone on Kieper and buried the puck to give the Blazers a five-goal cushion at 6-1.
KAM 1-7 at 12:16 - Connor Levis (7), assisted by Daylan Kueffler // A scramble in front of Kieper went the Blazers' way and Levis poked the puck past the Pats netminder to increase the lead to 7-1.
KAM 1-8 at 0:00 - Ashton Ferster (2), assisted by Drew Englot and Logan Bairos // The Blazers threw the puck at the Pats net and banked in off Englot and past Kieper to give the Blazers a seven-goal lead at 8-1.
REG 2-8 at 0:00 - Alexander Suzdalev (15), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Connor Bedard (PP) // Suzdalev used multiple players as a screen and buried a wrist shot and now down 8-2.
KAM 2-9 at 0:00 - Caeden Bankier (17), assisted by Logan Bairos and Matthew Seminoff (PP) // Bankier fired a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that beat Kieper to give the Blazers a 9-2 lead.
Third Period
REG 3-9 at 11:39 - Connor Bedard (24), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Drew Sim (PP) // Bedard walked into the Blazers zone and pulled a toe drag moved, and fired a wrister past Ernst to make it 9-3 Blazers.

Connor Bedard extended his point streak to 25 games (24G-33A-57PTS) with two goals and an assist. He has 35 points (14G-21A) over his last 13 games, 11 of which have been multi-point outings.
Tanner Howe continued his hot streak with an assist. He now has points in his last four games (6G-3A-8PTS) and 16 points (9G-7A) in his last eight games.
Alexander Suzdalev has 21 points (9G-12A) in his last 12 games.
Stanislav Svozil picked up two assists to extend his point streak to six games (2G-12A) and continued on his torrid pace and is now up to 30 points (4G-26A).
The last time the Pats played the Blazers in B.C. was just over four years ago on November 20, 2018, Riley Krane scored the winner in a 3-2 Pats victory.

The Pats finish off the British Columbia part of their West trip on Friday, December 2 when they travel north to Prince George to face the Cougars at the CN Centre with a 9:00 PM puck drop.
